We have been working on a ‘not-for-profit’ web-based application that is to be rolled out across the UK, but originated in Bradford, and have had the opportunity for it to be tested by the Cyber Security team and students over at Bradford University.
The Cyber Security team nominated three graduates and one of their specialists to try and hack into our system which contains various user and access levels.
The team at Bradford University spent 5 hours trying to gain access into the system. With our usual external penetration test partners we get the results back within a few days and don’t get to see what goes on during the testing phase, so being in the room whilst this was happening was a real eye opener. It was brilliant to see the specialists at work and the technology they use to try and ethically hack into systems to test their security levels.
After the testing concluded, the Cyber Security team were unable to gain access into our system, proving that the levels of security we add to our systems as prerequisites are highly effective.
With all our web applications and eCommerce projects we offer penetration testing through several of our partners, or alternatively you can nominate an external company of your choice.
