We are proud to announce that we are now a UK Partner for Tokbox (a NEXMO-group company) – who provide robust, custom video streams for web and software applications.
We were searching for a new “live stream” 1-to-1 based kit to integrate into a social and medical-based application we were developing. The initial plan was to build our own to ensure security and full customisation, but as the application had a potential of 5000+ people using the service at one time, we decided we needed to seek out specialists in being able to manage this server load and maintain a secure environment.
After searching high and low and speaking with our other partners, we came across Tokbox who already provide this service for similar applications in the social and medical industries and their case studies and presentation blew us away!
We joined their partner program and started to dig into the development documentation guides, ascertain the customisation levels we could go to and to see how cost-effective this platform could be. After initial testing and setting up a demo environment, the ease of implementation meant that we decided this was definitely the tool to use.
Development
We began the development into our complex web application soon after this and started integrating it with our different user levels, hosts, guests, and patients. We then went one step further and developed different instances for group sessions, 1-to-1 sessions, internal staff sessions and backups.
Due to how intuitive the API from Tokbox is and the depth of the documentation, we can successfully integrate it into any application, whilst maintaining full control over customisation of how it looks. We spent time designing some nice user interface designs for all different scenarios, holding screens, connection issues, and more. We then additionally built a responsive framework for mobile so that our user interface integration was seamless.
So far, the service from Tokbox has been superb. However, it is worth noting that it is important to know that for usage in Google Chrome you need to create your own Chrome “add-on” for browser support. It is also vitally important to keep up-to-date with any patches and updates for Tokbox integrations alongside your general browser updates. We have even started implementation on another application for the NHS which we will be posting more about soon!
If you require any webinar integration or live stream integration for your website then let us know and we will be happy to assist!
