This summer we had had the amazing opportunity to work on an awesome project over in Georgia, Atlanta.
We travelled over to the States mid-August to the InterContinental Hotel Group (IHG) head offices in downtown Atlanta, not too far from the infamous Coca-Cola World!
The project brief was to analyse the existing brand guidelines across all platforms and see where we could make significant improvements to benefit them.
There were 2 initial documents, firstly there was a UX guide that documented the various screens across all devices (desktop, tablet and mobile) and the various user journeys that can be taken. The second document was a 400-page brand guidelines that included elements such as logo usage, typography, colour palettes and much more. This document covered the child companies of the InterContinental Hotel Group including Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express and Staybridge.
We attended various workshops and meetings throughout our stay in Atlanta, meeting huge teams of designers and developers from all over the world.
It was vital that the improvements to the style guide were versatile and adaptable for usage across the other IHG brands.
We continued the project upon our return to the UK, sending revisions back and forth with the teams in Atlanta until the final version of the guide was signed off.
The project as a whole was extremely exciting to work on, and one where we gained vast experience of working alongside such a prestigious company. Working with companies of this size gives us an important insight into the scale that they work on, down to server setup, integrations into various travel and booking websites and database sizes.
We look forward to working on new projects with the InterContinental Hotel Group in the future.
