Reach Studios is looking for an experienced Magento 2 developer who will build and maintain an array of eCommerce websites.Collaborating with our in-house team, you will partner with project stakeholders to scope, estimate, and implement new feature requests. Additionally, you will address bug reports and work closely with the Ecommerce Team Lead to efficiently deliver new websites and re-platforming projects. We’re looking for someone with at least four years of experience building & improving the web, with a passion and attitude that fits well with our team.
Working closely with our in-house ecommerce development team, the successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Building & maintaining custom features & functionalities – both backend and frontend.
- Working alongside our developers to ensure that new code integrates with the Magento framework, performs well, and is maintainable.
- Reviewing code and pull requests from other team members.
- Working across multiple ecommerce support boards and projects, delivering tasks on time.
- Troubleshooting and debugging issues raised via support channels, and working closely with other members of the team to ensure a timely resolution.
- Working with APIs to integrate various back-end services and databases such as ERP & WMS software.
- Supporting the Ecommerce Team Lead in improving development processes within the team and mentoring junior team members.
- Contributing to project documentation in READMEs and other support documentation in Confluence.
- Staying up to date with the latest trends and technologies in e-commerce and web development, making recommendations for improvement and optimisation.
The ideal candidate has:
- At least 4 years of experience in Magento development, with a leaning to backend.
- Previous experience in a web development agency.
- Extensive knowledge of Magento 2 development and architecture.
- Proficiency in PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS, XML & JavaScript.
- Experience with both Magento Open Source and Adobe Commerce.
- Comfortable with local development infrastructure such as Docker and Composer to set up projects and debug issues locally without assistance.
- Experience with test frameworks typically used in Magento, e.g. PHPUnit.
- Familiarity with version control and project management systems (e.g., Git, BitBucket, Jira)
- Experience with Hyvä themes, Tailwind CSS and Alpine JS.
- Independent problem-solving, strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of cross-browser and device compatibility issues, constraints and solutions.
- Proficiency in transforming wireframes and UI prototypes into polished digital experiences that align with responsive design principles and mobile-first development approaches.
- Expertise in boosting performance through code optimisation and database query tuning.
