Bespoke Native iOS and Android Application powered by web-based administrator backend for the British Drift Championship.

The British Drift Championship is the UK’s leading professional drift series, with almost 200 drivers competing across the championship. 2019 was a landmark season for the British Drift Championship with it being the series’ 11th consecutive season.

We created a web-based administration portal that enabled system administrators to create events, register drivers to events, enter qualifying scores and generate head-to-head battles. The portal is also a one-stop stop for viewing championship standings, driver profiles and team information which can all be controlled by the system administrators.

To accompany the administration portal, we developed iOS and Android applications for users and fans. On the mobile apps you can view the real-time qualifying and battle results, watch live streams, go head-to-head against your friends and predict who will finish in the Top 4 and win points for correct predictions and also vote for your Driver of the Day.

The biggest challenge was achieving an overall understanding of all the highly complex rules of drifting and creating an application that mirrored the logic exactly, making it super easy for the system administrators to add in points and automate the ‘battle’ rounds. We also developed complex APIs to send and receive data between the administration portal and mobile applications.

As the 2019 season comes to a close, we are already looking into next season and to see what improvements and upgrades we can make across both platforms. As the BDC continues to grow at a rapid pace, this project will also continue to progress season on season as more features and upgrades are added.

We are looking forward to working along side the British Drift Championship for many years to come!
