Thank you for looking at this role – we are happy to confirm we have now filled this vacancy.
Reach Studios builds products that serve the best and most exciting brands in the UK including ASOS, ZARA, M&S, NESTLE, VIRGIN MEDIA, BT and many more.
We have a relaxed and flexible workplace and we’re looking for a Laravel PHP Developer to join our team, with the flexibility of our hybrid working policy.
Our technology
Our web development is built on PHP platforms and frameworks with web applications utilising the power of Laravel for back-end processes. Front-ends are built in React / Next.js, rendered by Apache servers. Both REST and GraphQL APIs are utilised to integrate and extend the services we provide to our array of clients. We also partner with multiple server / hosting providers such as ANS Group & KDAWS.com to offer the best experience and value to our clients.
What to expect
Your role will kick off with mastering our stack and getting stuck in on a handful of great projects, shadowing other developers and learning the ropes. You’ll drop into our sprint kick-offs and stand-ups so you have exposure to our processes and learn how we work and who we are.
You’ll help to develop, debug and improve products working alongside other developers and creatives. How do we QC and test work? We have a code review, UAT protocol & GIT deployment process in place.
We’re scaling fast, and our team are the beneficiaries of their achievements!
About you
You are more than a <DEV>, we are building a team with talent, but the individual behind the code is who we want to meet.
When meeting you we’ll also take a look at your technical interests and track record, things that make Our Technical Director happy include readable, secure, accessible, testable, standards-compliant code. He also loves F1, Hockey & NFL.
Our web development team generally work on web applications, so you’ll need to be very familiar with HTML, CSS, MySQL, Javascript and PHP. Experience in Laravel is going to be essential here, but an understanding of how to take your Laravel application and render it within React frontends will be a huge advantage. You will also be very familiar with APIs, including REST and GraphQL. An understanding of SOAP APIs would be beneficial too.
A graduate degree is not a necessity. We welcome applications from self-taught developers and graduates alike.
Culture
We have embraced a flexible, hybrid working culture, so pick and choose where you work, with our only preference being that you’re in the office often enough for us to get to know you.
If you are coming into the office, we work from the iconic Hillsborough Barracks, so driving or public transport are taken care of, we have an ample offering of free parking too.
We will also give you the time, space and budget to learn new technologies and further your own knowledge as a developer.
We equip our development team with a Macbook or an Apple machine, of some description.
Other little perks that feed into who we are include the following:
- Casual dress
- Company events
- Company pension
- Discounted or free food
- Free parking
- Sick pay
- Work from home
- Bonus scheme
- Commission pay
If you’d like a little more information on any of the above, we can discuss this during an informal screening call.
