A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Laravel Developer with great problem-solving skills to join our talented in-house development team.
We’re looking for someone with 3 – 5 years of experience building & maintaining Laravel web applications, with a passion and attitude that fits well with our team.
Reach Studios is looking for a talented Laravel Developer who will get the opportunity to work on an array of exciting web projects; including websites, web applications and software integrations. Your main tasks will be to build highly proficient web applications with a focus on usability and performance. This includes creating new projects as well as maintaining existing applications, built on Laravel PHP.
Our technology
Our web development is built on PHP platforms and frameworks with web applications utilising the power of Laravel for back-end processes. Front-ends are built in Alpine.js / React / Next.js, rendered by Apache or NGINX servers. Both REST and GraphQL APIs are utilised to integrate and extend the services we provide to our array of clients. We also partner with multiple server/hosting providers such as ANS Group & KDAWS.com to offer the best experience and value to our partners.
What to expect
Your role will kick off with getting stuck in on a handful of great projects, shadowing other developers and getting up to speed with how we work and the projects we maintain. You’ll drop into our sprint kick-offs and stand-ups so you have exposure to our processes and learn how we work and who we are.
You will also have opportunity to work along side wider teams like our UI/UX designers, mobile developers and front end developers to create fantastic end to end solutions for our partners.
You’ll help to develop, debug and improve products by working alongside other developers and creatives. How do we QC and test work? We have a code review, UAT protocol & GIT deployment process in place.
About you
You are more than a <DEV>. We are building a team with talent, but the individual behind the code is who we want to meet.
When meeting you, we’ll also take a look at your technical interests and track record. Things we’re looking for in a technical capacity include readable, secure, accessible, testable, standards-compliant code.
Our web development team generally works on web applications, so you’ll need to be very familiar with HTML, CSS, MySQL, Javascript and PHP. You should also be proficient in using GIT version control and have experience with CSS frameworks, Tailwind specifically where possible.
Experience in Laravel is going to be essential for this role, including concepts such as Eloquent/Query Builder, routing, queue processing, events and test frameworks like Pest and PHP Unit. You will also need to be familiar with APIs, including REST and GraphQL. An understanding of SOAP APIs would be beneficial too.
Experience with Inertia to enable VueJS or React front-end builds on a Laravel back end is desirable.
A graduate degree is not a necessity. We welcome applications from self-taught developers and graduates alike.
Culture
We have embraced a flexible, hybrid working culture, so pick and choose where you work, with our only preference being that you’re in the office often enough for us to get to know you and collaborate with the team regularly.
When you are coming into the office, we work from the iconic Hillsborough Barracks, so driving or public transport is taken care of, we have an ample offering of free parking too within the complex.
We will also give you the time, space and budget to learn new technologies and further your knowledge as a developer. It’s important to us as a business that our people grow with us and we encourage those with a desire to always be learning to apply for this role.
We equip our development team with a Macbook or an Apple machine, of some description.
